Business subsidy approved by City Council

The Sauk Centre City Council voted unanimously to approve terms and authorize the final development of a contract with developers of a new apartment complex on Main Street North. Within the regular meeting Aug. 3, a public hearing was held to discuss a business subsidy tax abatement which would be used to fund the city’s expenses for the project, since that amount is expected to exceed $150,000.... Shaney's Tavern undamaged, remains open

The Sauk Centre Fire Department was called out to Shaney’s Tavern at approximately 9 a.m. Saturday morning for a grease fire in the kitchen. The fire was extinguished before any damaged was sustained to either the kitchen or the building. Owners Sunshine Shaney and John Bettendorf said cleanup is being finished and the tavern will remain open for normal business hours.
