Sauk Centre, Melrose men receive non-life threatening injuries in crash

The Sauk Centre Police Department and the Todd County Sheriff responded to an accident at Milepost 176 north of Sauk Centre at 10:41 p.m. Tuesday.
A 2006 Honda motorcycle driven by Alex M. Marthaler, 21 of Sauk Centre, was north bound on Highway 71, following a 2002 Dodge Stratus passenger car driven by Rocio Ruiz-Gomez, 32, of Long Prairie. According to the Minnnesota State Patrol report, the motorcycle moved to pass the Dodge and another vehicle that was in front of the Dodge. At that time the Dodge also moved out to pass the vehicle in front of it. Both the motorcycle and the Dodge were making a passing maneuver, and the motorcycle lost control and over turned on its side, making contact with the Dodge and skidding to a stop in the ditch.
Ruiz-Gomez and three passengers in the Dodge were not injured.
Marthaler was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital with serious injuries.

Accident on I-94 near West Union

**UPDATE** The Medical Examiner confirmed the body to be that of Alan Michael Thomas DOB 12/28/68 who was reported missing from Todd County. Thomas, of Osakis, had left Osakis on Aug. 4 and didn’t return.
