Charles “Bud” G. Pendroy

Pendroy, age 87 of Sauk Centre and formerly of Grey Eagle and St. Paul, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at the St. Cloud Hospital in Saint Cloud.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ronald Dockendorf presiding. Interment was held in the parish cemetery.

Mava R. Barchenger
Mava R. Barchenger, age 100 of Sauk Centre, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 20, at First Lutheran Church-Christian Life Center, Sauk Centre, with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 11 a.m. Lunch and fellowship will follow the memorial service. A private family inurnment service was in Greenwood Cemetery in Sauk Centre.
Mava Ruby Shanahan was born May 10, 1915, in Scott, Saskatchewan, Canada, to William and Etta (Wehrhahn) Shanahan. She moved to the United States at an early age. She graduated from Sauk Centre High School, attended Normal Teacher’s Training and St. Cloud State University and taught in rural schools. She graduated from St. Mary’s School of Vocational Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota and was a nurse for 30 years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Sauk Centre Seniors.

James E. “Jim” Winters, age 66 of Sauk Centre, died Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating and Rev. Andrew Marthaler concelebrating. Interment was in the parish cemetery with military honors provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.

Rose Walker, age 92 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, March 18, at the St. Benedict Senior Community in St. Cloud.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Interment was at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Sauk Centre.

Olivia A. Schwieters
Olivia A. Schwieters, age 94 of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Melrose.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, March 19, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich with Rev. Marvin Enneking presiding. Interment was at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Melrose.
Olivia Ann Pundsack was born Nov. 29, 1921, in Oak Township, Stearns County, to Henry and Cecelia (Wehseler). Olivia grew up on the farm and walked to school in New Munich until the 8th grade. She married Cyril Schwieters on Oct. 24, 1944, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. Together they raised their 11 children on the farm in New Munich until 1985 when they moved to Melrose. Olivia loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards, bingo, fishing, bowling and trips to the casino.

Eugene L. Carlquist
Eugene L. “Gene” Carlquist, age 82 of rural Belle River, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at his home surrounded by family.
Memorial services were Saturday, March 19, at Fahlun Lutheran Church in Nelson with Pastor Mike Carlson and Pastor Jeremy Pederson officiating. Music was provided by organist Barb Sather. Private family burial is at a later date at the church cemetery.
Eugene Lyle Carlquist was born Feb. 7 1934, at the Northwood, N.D., hospital to Carl Elmer and Gladys Evelyn (Staflin) Carlquist. He was baptized by Rev. Njaa from West Union Lutheran Church of Northwood, N.D., and confirmed by Rev. C.E. Holmer at Fahlun Lutheran Church of Nelson. He attended various rural one-room school houses through 8th grade and graduated from Central High School of Alexandria in 1952.

Tony Trent Raile

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for Tony T. Raile, age 55 of Long Prairie.
Tony was born July 15, 1960, in Wishek, N.D., to Marvin Raile and Arleene Dalke. The family moved to Sauk Centre in 1962 where Tony attended and graduated from Sauk Centre High School. Tony went into the United States Army. He served six years. During this time he was stationed in Germany and Ft. Lewis, Wash. He resided in Washington where he started in sales, selling satellite dishes. He later moved back to Sauk Centre where he started selling repairables; after a short time he began work at the Sanitation Company. Tony sold repairables for Henry’s Repairables in Long Prairie most of his adult life. He passed away on March 9 at his home. In accordance with Tony’s wishes, he will be cremated.
Tony is survived by his mother, Arleene J. Sarles; ex-wife, Lois Kleinschmidt; son, Jessie Raile and granddaughter, Sophia Betty Lois Raile.

Sylvester F. “Vessie” Klaphake, age 83 of Meire Grove, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at the CentraCare Health Hospital in Melrose.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, March 14, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.

Virginia M. Slimmer

Virginia M. Slimmer, age 87 of Burtrum, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at her home in Burtrum.
A funeral service was held on Friday, March 11, at Faith Community Church in Burtrum with Rev. David Sobotka officiating. Interment was in Moses Dane Cemetery in Burtrum
Virginia Mae Richardson was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Pillsbury, Todd County, to Edward and Blanche (Hosford) Richardson. Virginia’s parents lived in Burtrum. As a child, after her father passed away, Virginia lived with Bill and Hazel Richardson. Bill and Hazel would be known to Virginia’s children as Uncle Bill and Grandma Hazel. Bill and Hazel’s daughter, RuthAnn, is like a sister to Virginia and her children.

Gerald “Jerry” A. Parks

Gerald “Jerry” A. Parks, age 85 of Elrosa, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Donna; son, Douglas (Lisa) of Golden Valley; and daughter Janice (Jerry) Wiech of Topeka, Kan., and their families.
Jerry had worked as a heavy equipment operator, was a member of Union Local #49 and was a friend of Bill W. for 44 years.
A private memorial was held for Jerry with friends and family in Cottage Grove on Feb. 20.
