Tony Trent Raile

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for Tony T. Raile, age 55 of Long Prairie.
Tony was born July 15, 1960, in Wishek, N.D., to Marvin Raile and Arleene Dalke. The family moved to Sauk Centre in 1962 where Tony attended and graduated from Sauk Centre High School. Tony went into the United States Army. He served six years. During this time he was stationed in Germany and Ft. Lewis, Wash. He resided in Washington where he started in sales, selling satellite dishes. He later moved back to Sauk Centre where he started selling repairables; after a short time he began work at the Sanitation Company. Tony sold repairables for Henry’s Repairables in Long Prairie most of his adult life. He passed away on March 9 at his home. In accordance with Tony’s wishes, he will be cremated.
Tony is survived by his mother, Arleene J. Sarles; ex-wife, Lois Kleinschmidt; son, Jessie Raile and granddaughter, Sophia Betty Lois Raile.

Sylvester F. “Vessie” Klaphake
Sylvester F. “Vessie” Klaphake, age 83 of Meire Grove, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at the CentraCare Health Hospital in Melrose.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, March 14, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.

Virginia M. Slimmer

Virginia M. Slimmer, age 87 of Burtrum, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at her home in Burtrum.
A funeral service was held on Friday, March 11, at Faith Community Church in Burtrum with Rev. David Sobotka officiating. Interment was in Moses Dane Cemetery in Burtrum
Virginia Mae Richardson was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Pillsbury, Todd County, to Edward and Blanche (Hosford) Richardson. Virginia’s parents lived in Burtrum. As a child, after her father passed away, Virginia lived with Bill and Hazel Richardson. Bill and Hazel would be known to Virginia’s children as Uncle Bill and Grandma Hazel. Bill and Hazel’s daughter, RuthAnn, is like a sister to Virginia and her children.

Gerald “Jerry” A. Parks

Gerald “Jerry” A. Parks, age 85 of Elrosa, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Donna; son, Douglas (Lisa) of Golden Valley; and daughter Janice (Jerry) Wiech of Topeka, Kan., and their families.
Jerry had worked as a heavy equipment operator, was a member of Union Local #49 and was a friend of Bill W. for 44 years.
A private memorial was held for Jerry with friends and family in Cottage Grove on Feb. 20.

Rhoda Marie Ostendorf

Rhoda Marie Ostendorf, age 76 of Sauk Centre, passed away Feb. 22, 2016.
She was born Aug. 17, 1939, in Little Sauk, the daughter of Everett and Lyda Thompson.
In 1956 she and Fred Ostendorf were married and made their home in Sauk Centre.
Preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jo Ostendorf; parents; and two brothers, Gene and Richard.
Rhoda is survived by her husband Fred; three children Jeanne (Kurt) Kumlin, Nancy (Mike) Noe and Joseph (Jessica) Ostendorf; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a brother, Robert Thompson.
Memorial Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, Sauk Centre.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Our Lady of Peace Hospice Home, St. Paul.

Richard J. “Rich” Kortan

Richard J. “Rich” Kortan, age 92 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully on Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.
Richard Joseph Kortan was born Jan. 27, 1924, in Sauk Centre, to Charles Sr. and Mary (Novak) Kortan. He was united in marriage to Joan Wiener on June 21, 1949, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Richard worked at Sauk Centre Farmers Elevator, City Service Gas Station, and Home Gas/Texgas for 28 years. He then worked at St. Michael’s Hospital for 13 years.

Eugene H. “Gene” Blomgren, age 76 of Sauk Centre, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Little Sauk with Rev. Melissa Ehrhardt officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Selestine “Sally” A. Korte-Power, age 90 of Sauk Centre died peacefully on Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel presiding. Interment was in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Sauk Centre.

Marion L. Walker, age 83 of Villard, died Thursday, Feb. 18, at Prairie Senior Cottage in Alexandria. Funeral services will at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, at Villard United Methodist Church, with Rev. Alexander Victor Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home in Glenwood and will resume on Friday at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Lake Leven Cemetery. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Esther J. Hinnenkamp, age 87 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Jeremy Theis officiating and Rev. Mike Van Sloun concelebrating. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Sauk Centre.
Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers were at 4 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
