Summer vacation was in full swing this week as temperatures soared, driving young families to Fairy Lake beach. At right, Serena Moore, 4, of rural Sauk Centre spent Tuesday at the beach with her siblings and friends. The beach was a popular spot on Tuesday as temperatures reached more than 90 degrees. Memorial Day services scheduled

Memorial Day services will be held Monday beginning at 10:30 a.m. with pre-ceremony music at Greenwood cemetery on the east end of Sauk Centre.

The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. 

If case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Sauk Centre Armory. A lunch will follow the ceremony at the Sauk Centre American Legion.

Police looking for information in suspected arson attempt

Sauk Centre police responded to the 300 block of Sinclair Lewis Avenue at approximately 8:45 p.m. Saturday to find a window had been broken out and a curtain was on fire. Officers were able to put out the fire before the fire department arrived. The residence was empty, and officers believe the fire was intentionally set. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Sauk Centre Police Department at 351-7022.
