Benedict P. “Ben” Thiewes, age 69, of Sauk Centre, passed May 5, 2024, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.

A Celebration of Life will be 1-4 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at St. Alexius Catholic Church in West Union with a prayer service beginning at 1 p.m. A get together will be 1-4 p.m. July 27 at the Goodwin Hall in Goodwin, South Dakota.

Benedict Peter Thiewes was born Sept. 1, 1954, in Clear Lake, South Dakota, to Francis “Jim” and Evelyn (Raml) Thiewes. He was united in marriage to Brenda Schmitz Sept. 5, 1987, in Kranzburg, South Dakota. Ben worked with his parents on the farm until marriage. He then worked at West Central Roofing, Jennie-O Foods, Willmar Poultry Farms and Walmart.

He was a member of St. Alexius Catholic Church in West Union and the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in Willmar. Ben loved watching the Minnesota Twins, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Wild and auto racing. He loved watching the grandkids play hockey and baseball, camping, and swinging in his hammock.

Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Brenda Thiewes of Sauk Centre; son, Zachariah “Zach” (Chelsy) Thiewes; grandsons, Wade, Owen, and Joel; sister, Connie (Roche) Stoebner; brothers, Virgil (Mary) Thiewes, Bruce (Shelly) Thiewes, and Dean (Shari) Thiewes; brother-in-law, Charles “Charlie” (Linda) Schmitz; sisters-in-law, Pat (Dave) Shaffer and Sharon (Virgil) Dierkhising; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents.

Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral and Cremation Services of Sauk Centre.
