Berthold J. “Bert” Waldorf, age 90, of Sauk Centre, died peacefully May 29, 2024, at the Cura of Melrose Care Center in Melrose.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was June 3 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with the Rev. Mark Botzet officiating. Inurnment was in the parish cemetery.

Visitation was Monday at the church.

Berthold John Waldorf was born Jan. 17, 1934, in Belgrade to John and Emma (Wuertz) Waldorf. On June 18, 1957, he married Lucille Hieserich at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Bert farmed near Sauk Centre until the late 1960s and then at Kraft where he worked for 27 years until his retirement. He also worked at Silver Fir Lumber Sales, Gambles and worked as a groundskeeper at St. Michael’s Hospital in Sauk Centre.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre, Knights of Columbus, and St. Paul’s Catholic United Financial. Bert enjoyed farming, fishing, playing cards and keeping his yard immaculate.

Survivors include his children, Diane (David) Imdieke of Sauk Centre, Mark (Debbie) Waldorf of St. Louis Park, Brenda (Chris) Helsene of Shorewood and Lori (Steve) Wischmann of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Nicholas (Kirstie) Helsene, Amber (Brett) Haider, Ashley (Tony) Grossman, Bradley Waldorf, Kyle (Abbi) Imdieke, Rachel Waldorf and Mitchell Wischmann; and great-granddaughters, Hayden Haider, Rhea Grossman, Annabelle Imdieke and Eloise Helsene.

Bert was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Waldorf on Aug. 1, 2015; parents; brothers, Raymond, Roman, Eugene and Donald Waldorf; and sisters, Mathilda “Tillie” Buening and Dorothy Orth.

Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral and Cremation Services of Sauk Centre.
