Irene R. Felling, 97, of Sauk Centre, died peacefully, surrounded by her family Jan. 24, 2024, at the CentraCare Hospital in Sauk Centre.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 29 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with the Rev. Mark Botzet officiating. Inurnment was in the parish cemetery.
Irene Rose Fellling was born Nov. 13, 1926, in Sauk Centre Township, Stearns County, to Peter and Mary (Jacobs) Orth. She began working as a bookkeeper and sales lady for Mary Ann Clothing Store in Sauk Centre. When they went out of business, she began working for Grossman License Bureau. She was united in marriage to Anthony “Tony” Felling July 3, 1950, at the Church of St. John in Wahpeton, North Dakota. Irene had a gift of hospitality and compassion. For years, she took care of her parents and her brother Julian, and together with Tony, they took care of her brother Roland for many years. Irene and Tony made a good team by helping each other out.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her husband Tony Felling of Sauk Centre; niece Kathleen Felling; nephews Richard Felling and his daughter Ella and Dennis (Veronica) Felling and their daughters Venelli and Isadora.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Julian Orth and Roland Orth; sister Lucille Felling; brother-in-law Ben Felling; and nephew Duane Felling.
