Michelle Fischbach
Party: Republican

About: Michelle Fischbach is the U.S. Congressional Representative for western Minnesota’s 7th District. She is a trailblazer and proven conservative leader, continuing to make her mark as a member of the House committees on ways and means, ethics, budget, and rules. On Ways and Means, she serves on the trade subcommittee and the oversight subcommittee. Prior to her election to Congress, she served as the 49th lieutenant governor of Minnesota, ascending to that position following the resignation of her predecessor. She was the first woman in Minnesota history to serve as president of the Minnesota Senate — initially from 2011-12, then again …

Protecting life: We must protect the unborn, who have the fundamental right to life, and
defend the sanctity of innocent human life at all stages. I have been standing up to efforts by the radical left to promote infanticide and taxpayer-funded abortions. We still have so much work to do to change hearts and minds to understand that the pro-life community strives …

Defending the Second Amendment: We must defend our right to keep and bear arms. The United States Constitution is unambiguous: Our right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Period. I will stand up to efforts by the radical left to abolish the Second Amendment and confiscate guns from law-abiding citizens. I will defend the Constitution and vote to protect the right …

Securing our borders: We must secure our borders and finish building the southern border wall. I will stand up to efforts by the radical left to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and promote open borders and sanctuary cities. We need to work with law enforcement officials to restore the rule of law and order, and support ICE agents as they remove unlawful …

AJ (John) Peters
Party: Democratic-Farmer-Labor

About: I am here to listen to you and to get things done. I am seeking to be elected as your Democratic U.S. Representative for CD 7, which encompasses the western third of Minnesota. I want to continue the phenomenal progress that we have seen both in our state and our country over the last three years. My plan is to bring open, honest discussion about current problems in our state and work to the best of my ability to find solutions to those problems — some of which are the costs of rural healthcare, the coronavirus pandemic/recovery, land stewardship, availability of …

Environment: Water is more important than oil. We cannot live without water and we will have viable alternatives for oil. We must keep a clean source of water.

Climate: I believe that climate change is real and human made. We must move to a carbonless based energy system.

Rural economy: A prosperous rural economy is dependent on small family farms and small businesses. I will work to support these entities and discourage foreign investment in our food supply chain.
