Robert B.  “Bob” Hoeschen, 88, of Freeport, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Jan. 7, 2024, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport with the Rev. Daniel Walz officiating and the Rev. Eberhard Schefers concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be 9:45-11:15 a.m. Friday at the church. 

 Robert Benedict Hoeschen was born March 22, 1935, in Freeport, Minnesota, to Hubert and Mary (Barhorst) Hoeschen. He was united in marriage to Donna Winter Aug. 5, 1959, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Bob and Donna lived in Freeport and were members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Bob worked at Franklin for many years as a union laborer until his retirement.  

Bob enjoyed fishing, going on camping trips up north, including to Canada, shaking dice, making occasional trips to the casino and tending to his many gardens. He was so proud of how big his vegetables would get, and he loved sharing the fruits of his labor with his family and friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and spending time at the hunting shack, bowling and playing fastpitch softball. 

Survivors include children Roxane Hoeschen of Sauk Centre, Keith Hoeschen of New Munich and Jason (Heather) Hoeschen of Freeport; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; and brother Walter “Dick” (Alice) Hoeschen of Freeport.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna (Winter) Hoeschen, daughters Sandy and Deb Hoeschen, son Kenny Hoeschen, brothers Elmer “Porky” and Arnie Hoeschen, sisters Dorothy Brodie and Rose “Girlie” Groen and in-laws and many friends.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
